The Casio Duro analog watch ( Casio mdv106) is apparently the most underrated dive watch out there. I have a thing for quartz watches and therefore decided to go for it when I first laid my eyes on this magnificent timepiece. Since it was from the OG watch manufacturer Casio, I thought it'd live up to its mark. But when you’ve regained your composure over this incredible level of water-resistance, you’ll be equally impressed by the rest of the watch. Enjoy 20% OFF select PADI eLearning® programs, FREE ReActivate® online refresher, subscription to Scuba Diving magazine + so much more when you join PADI Club™.

But the fun doesn’t stop there with the Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster. You’ve also got a one-way rotating elapsed-time bezel—vital in any good diver watch. There’s also a day-date indicator, luminous hands so you can read the time at any depth, and an anti-reflective mineral crystal display. Finally, a screw-down crown stops water and dust from penetrating the movement. You can use this Casio divers watch 200m underwater. This way you are able to take it from land to water without having to switch out your watches. The Afterglow feature helps you see the time even in lower-lit areas. Time Features In 1965, Seiko made an international splash with the introduction of Japan's first dive watch. More than 50 years later, Seiko has recreated that iconic Automatic Diver. The 200-meter reissue has updated technology but remains faithful to the original— a design so tough and accurate it would be selected for a grueling four-year Japanese Antarctica research expedition.

This recommendation of ours proudly wears the name of ‘Big Tuna’ on the basis we are about to cover. The Marinemaster is truly a one in a million type of watch that many tend to put on their Christmas wishing list. The massive 48mm case features a shroud that adds the mandatory protection needed when diving – be sure it will last you at least a few decades. It is anti-magnetic, has a 300-meter water-resistance rate (not common for Seiko watches), and has a battery life that reaches 5 years. How mindboggling is that? This technology ensures that the watch keeps excellent time, losing only a few seconds after a long period of time. I find the strap comfortable too; much better than the super-stiff Seiko ones. Silicone straps are just lint magnets for me; I don’t like them. NATO are certainly an option and I will no-doubt fit this one on a NATO or ten at some point. The timepiece features an internal and external bezel with a SafeDive system incorporated to prevent any timing errors out in the water. It’s also a chronograph dive watch, and features a day and date indication, and the 30120 caliber movement has a 42-hour power reserve.

Panerai’s Submersible collection is a homage to the brand’s distinguished history as a supplier of watches to the Italian Navy. This particular version of the Submersible takes that military heritage and adds a major dose of high-end luxury. Buying a dive watch can be hard – no matter if it’s your first dive watch or if you’re just looking for yet another watch to the collection. All in all, you want to find the right one. To prevent accidental adjusting of settings, the top left button on this watch is designed to be pushed in further. That said, diving timepieces continue to be highly popular choices when it comes to men’s luxury wristwatches. Perhaps it’s the knowledge that you have a high-tech tool on your wrist—one with an exhilarating history of being used by military professionals and underwater explorers. Nor does the DS Action Diver need to be babied. Its ISO 300 m (985 feet) diver’s rating should leave you feeling satisfied that the watch is capable of withstanding any extreme sport or activity.

Water resistance to 300 meters is cool. Water resistance to 1,000 meters is even better. But water resistance to 3900 meters? Now that’s what we’re talking about. Taking us further off topic with more MRW lore… but it’s something that brought me great joy last week when I stumbled across this. Wait, did I find this link here on TTAW? Jeez I’m getting old.
