For the sound tests I captured the first recordings like I have been, directly recording in Audacity first with my MXL 990 recording mic and then with my Arctis 7 headset, but I changed the procedure for the second. As I mentioned, among the things I have done while using these switches was to do some video game recordings, for which I use OBS Studio. It is able to record up to six separate audio streams and to record from multiple devices at the same time, which means I would be able to record both microphones simultaneously. As ideal as that may sound for sound tests, there are some catches. One is that OBS Studio does not want me to do just an audio recording or change the audio encoder from AAC. By recording directly with Audacity I know I am avoiding any possible compression artifacts. However, I decided to use OBS Studio for this second recording because of another feature it has and I feel is worth investigating here; RNNoise, a noise suppression system using a trained neural network. Ever since Cherry's patents on the MX switches expired in 2014, the market has been flooded with inexpensive clones of their key switches. Many of these are of poor quality; however, a few companies such as Gateron and Kailh have grown to offer switches that match and in many cases better the Cherry equivalents.

These babies are holy dang tactile, I used other words when describing to friends but I think holy dang is pretty good. I also still make mistakes on it because the typing experience really is different, and sometimes bottoming out the key seems to make it take longer on the return travel. This can be really awkward in the beginning but as I type on the board I definitely don't feel the return as much as I did in the beginning.I like the switches, even if they make my hands tired after any heavy use. They are extremely tactile and are fun to type on. I am definitely keeping these on my Kona as my daily driver (and if you all like this post maybe I'll make another about my long term impression of the switch after I've had more time with it).

Plus, they are quiet enough that I can type without disturbing others. Overall, I would highly recommend Kailh Box Jade switches to anyone looking for an amazing typing experience! Gaming experienceA mechanical key switch is made from only 5 parts. They are made from high precision plastic polymer with a gold-plated internal switch to ensure minimal wear and achieve a long lifespan. Many switches are rating to last between 50 million and 100 million key presses. The Kailh Box Jade Switch has a reputation for being very smooth and having a quiet operation. They are often compared to the Cherry MX Brown switch, which is also known for its smooth feel and quiet operation. There are several factors to consider when looking to choose the type of mechanical key switch for your next keyboard. Work (or Play) Environment

Even though they have a smooth feel and a nice tactile bump, they do not sound as good as either the Box White or Box Jade and have a slightly rattly metallic sound. I love my box jades but they seem to be slightly too stiff. Thinking about buying some whites. But I'm not sure. Read that the whites have near zero tactility. How are they compared to gateron blues in that regard? Is their sound similar to jades? For stem wobble, there is some, but not much. Along the North-South line the stem can move a noticeable amount between my fingers, though I do not think it is enough to be concerned about. Along the West-East line there is some movement, but it is far less, basically just enough to tell the stem is able to move. Remember, to ensure the stem can freely move up and down there will be some space for it to wobble in the housing. Hope you all liked this, it's definitely my longest post ever so feel free to critique my formatting too ;) I do not think this is the norm though with this switch but just a bad combination of things, but I must put it here to detail everything that happened (you know, science). And because of this I would personally recommend a harder (or less universal) plate when building with these switches. I did fix the problem without much hassle and ended up putting a Navy there just for safety.I liked them both, but I bought enough Jades to cover a board so those were going to be the ones I tried first. Linear key switches are popular for gaming, where the smooth travel of the keys minimises any finger fatigue due to fast and intensive key presses. Key Switch I own 6 types and have extensively tried them for at least one month of typing per switch, some much longer. The ones I currently own are: Box Whites, Pale Blues, Jades, Navies, Pinks and Royals. I will go through each switch from my most disliked to my favorite, just know that I don't hate ANY of these switches at all I just prefer some over others. I will also include my average and highest typing speeds that I achieved on Nitrotype.
